Plain-English terms for work we do on your vehicle and for using this website.
Estimates and authorization
We provide a written estimate before performing repairs and don't exceed it without your authorization. By approving an estimate (in person, by phone, or by text) you authorize the work and agree to pay for it. Diagnostic time is billed at the rates on our pricing page; on standard vehicles the diagnostic fee is credited toward the authorized repair.
Smog and VSSI inspections
Inspections are state-regulated tests with a pass/fail result. The inspection fee is due whether the vehicle passes or fails, including when a vehicle fails because the check engine light is on. Results are transmitted to the DMV and Bureau of Automotive Repair. A free smog re-test is available within 30 days when we perform the repairs that caused the failure.
Payment
Payment is due when the vehicle is released. We accept cash, major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay; we do not accept checks. Financing is available for qualifying repairs through our financing partner. Vehicles left more than 3 days after we notify you they're ready may incur storage fees, and California law allows a mechanic's lien for unpaid work.
Parts and warranty
Replaced parts are available for return to you on request at the time of pickup unless they must be returned for core or warranty. Our repair warranty is 12 months / 12,000 miles as described on the warranty page.
Vehicle and property
Please remove valuables from the vehicle. We take reasonable care of vehicles in our custody but are not responsible for personal items left inside, or for pre-existing conditions discovered during service.

Information on smogmart.com is provided as a convenience; prices are as stated on the day of service. Coupons are one per vehicle per visit and can't be combined. We may update this site and these terms at any time.
